Ethiopia had the world's attention back in 1985 when the Live Aid concert tried to raise funds to save people who were starving to death ... for those of us who are activists & feel that if we could just get enough attention for our cause the problem would cease to exist ... well no cause had more attention than back then when Queen, The Who & U2 performed in Wembley Arena ... here are the facts on what has since happened to Ethiopia ...
"Since 1985, the year of the "Live Aid" concert, food production has declined by two-thirds, and twice as many Ethiopians are going hungry.
Ethiopia is a country that has lost three-quarters of its remaining trees in the last twenty-five years. Forest cover is now down to just 3%. This land, the birthplace of all humanity, has grown barren. (It's the usual story: the greed of the former dictatorship; unwise land policies; the desperate poor cutting trees for fuel.)"
Which is why I gave up being a traditional activist a couple years ago & began a more spiritually minded path as the problems of the world only reflect our own inner turmoil ...
