World Hunger To Grow, Food Prices Double

One of the most damning facts in this article on world hunger is the fact that in the USA we think it is perfectly ok to use corn to fill up our SUV's while 1 in 7 in the world are hungry & thousands die each day (mostly children) from hunger & related diseases ... the medicine exists ... so does the food ... we throw away enough to feed the whole world ... the karma bitch slap that is coming America's way is going to be horrendous ...

World Hunger Issues To Grow As Food Prices Double, Study Says

A young Guatemalan father works six days a week, 10-12 hours a day as a harvester on a plantation -- but some days he and his family go hungry.

The Guardian tells the family's story as an example of complex hunger issues worldwide -- which could get worse.

Global food prices could double in the next 20 years due to a population increase, oil price hikes and climate change, according to a new report by Oxfam, an international charity that addresses poverty issues.

The world's poorest people spend up to 80 percent of their income on food and will be most affected. According to Reuters, Oxfam Chief Executive Barbara Stocking says the number of people going hungry is going to increase with all of these problems.

The Guardian says the the Guatemalan family's plight is also a prime example of the broken power structure of the food system. The country is a major food producer for the rest of the world. Yet it has has one of the highest child malnutrition rates across the globe.

Oxfam says government regulation is partly to blame:

"The failure of the system flows from failures of government...which mean [sic] that companies, interest groups, and elites are able to plunder resources and to redirect flows of finance, knowledge, and food."
Specifically, the report says India doubled its economy but didn't help the poor and that the U.S. ensures 15 percent of the world's maize goes to engines, even during food crisis. The report also blames traders, who control the world's grain, saying they drive up volatile food prices and gain a profit.

Peaceful Protesters Outlast Police Brutality

Again where would we be without the soldiers & police of the world ?? What if they simply didn't show up for work one day ?? What if they all called in sick ? Or refused to do their jobs of harming their own brothers & sisters ??

The Times They are a Changing

The Times They are a Changing

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

Home-Price Index at Low Point since 2006

Home-price index at lowest point since 2006 bust

WASHINGTON – Home prices in major areas have reached their lowest level since the housing bubble burst in 2006, driven down by foreclosures, a glut of unsold homes and the reluctance or inability of many to buy.

Prices fell from February to March in 18 of the metro areas tracked by the Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller 20-city index. And prices in a dozen markets have reached their lowest points since the housing crisis began. Prices in March rose only in the Seattle and Washington, D.C., metro areas.

The nationwide index fell for the eighth straight month.

A record number of foreclosures are forcing prices down, and they are expected to keep falling through this year.

The 12 cities now at their lowest levels in nearly four years are: Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Las Vegas, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, Phoenix, Portland, Ore., and Tampa.

Printing Money= Pain Killer

“When you pump out tons of money manure into this system based on nothing — printing press paper, it’s like giving a patient with a chronic disease a pain killer — it won’t cure the patient.” Gerald Celente

State Secessionist Movement= Breakup of Soviet Union

“We predict state secessionist movements will rival the breakup of the Soviet Union.”
“The only way we can ever recover is to return to individual community, personal responsibility, local government. Next, average will disappear, Quality will return. Look at GM. Junk cars financed by junk bonds. Now owned by a junk government. As a consumer, don’t consume quantity — consume quality.”

Vaccine Price Fixing

"Just as striking is the steady rise in prices in the last decade, with the cost of vaccines against measles, polio and tetanus roughly doubling between 2001 and 2010."

Why would the price of an exising vaccine double in less than 10 years ?? Did the cost of making the drug double or was there a scarcity issue ?? I think not. This is the reason the prices were kept secret for so long until UNICEF decided to publish them for all to see ... good for them .. tho they are still poisoning children by giving them vaccines ... but what this article shows is how vaccine prices are about making lotsa money & not about helping the world's children as it is portrayed ...

Notice Bill Gates' foundation is mentioned here .. his involvement in vaccines of course is scary with his comments at TED about how they can be used to DECREASE population !! Rather than save lives ... i blogged about that here so look it up ...

UNICEF discloses vaccine prices for 1st time

UNICEF last year spent $757 million to provide 2.5 billion doses of vaccines to 99 countries, reaching an estimated 58 percent of the world's children.

Its price list shows significant disparity, with Western drugmakers often charging UNICEF double what companies in India and Indonesia do. Just as striking is the steady rise in prices in the last decade, with the cost of vaccines against measles, polio and tetanus roughly doubling between 2001 and 2010. Prices of a few vaccines have remained flat or declined as additional competitors entered the market.

There's also a huge spread in prices among various vaccines.
